Gania to Jhamundia Road Construction: Residents Stage Protest March, Submit Three-Point Demand

Demanding the construction and expansion of the road from Gania to Jhamundia, residents and youths of Rasanga Gram Panchayat organised a protest march on Monday. The protesters marched from Rasanga to the Gania Block Office to draw the administration’s attention towards the poor condition of the road and the difficulties faced by local people.

The Gania to Jhamundia road has remained in poor condition for a long time. The presence of numerous potholes and damaged sections has created serious problems for commuters. Local residents have been facing difficulties while travelling for their daily activities, including education, healthcare, business and other essential services.

Residents Demand Immediate Road Construction

According to the protesters, the road connecting Gania with Jhamundia requires immediate reconstruction and expansion. The condition of the existing road has become a major concern for people living in the surrounding villages. Due to the damaged surface, travelling has become inconvenient, particularly for elderly people, students and patients.

Residents alleged that road development work had not progressed for a long period despite the growing need for better transportation facilities. As a result, local youths and villagers decided to organise a protest march to demand immediate government intervention.

The protesters started their march from Rasanga and proceeded towards the Gania Block Office. After reaching the office, they staged a demonstration and raised slogans demanding better road connectivity and improved public facilities.

Three-Point Memorandum Submitted to BDO

During the demonstration, the protesters submitted a memorandum containing three major demands to Ankur Abhilash, the in-charge Block Development Officer (BDO) of Gania Block.

The three demands included the construction of a new road from Gania to Jhamundia, the provision of safe drinking water facilities at every bus stand and the installation of solar-powered lighting systems at bus waiting areas.

The protesters stated that these facilities are essential for improving the living conditions of local residents. They also emphasised that better road infrastructure would improve transportation and connectivity between villages and nearby important locations.

Road Project Estimated at ₹58.77 Crore

Responding to the demands, Junior Engineer of the Works Department Nirbhrin Samal and BDO Ankur Abhilash informed the protesters about the progress of the proposed road project.

According to the officials, the estimate and Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the new Gania to Jhamundia road have already been completed. The estimated cost of the project is ₹5,877.21 lakh, equivalent to approximately ₹58.77 crore.

The officials further stated that the tendering process for the proposed road construction project has already begun. Meanwhile, repair work on the existing road is currently underway to provide some immediate relief to commuters.

The information regarding the project progress offered some assurance to the protesters, who have been demanding proper road infrastructure for a long time.

Gania to Jhamundia Road Construction Project Update

The Gania to Jhamundia Road Construction project has become a major demand among residents of Rasanga Panchayat. People living in the surrounding villages have been requesting better road connectivity because the existing road is in poor condition. The proposed Gania to Jhamundia Road Construction project is expected to improve transportation and provide relief to daily commuters.

According to officials, the Detailed Project Report and estimated cost of ₹5,877.21 lakh have already been completed. The tendering process has reportedly started, while repair work on the existing road is continuing. Residents are now expecting the Gania to Jhamundia Road Construction work to begin within the promised timeframe.

Why Gania to Jhamundia Road Construction Is Important

Proper road infrastructure is essential for rural development. The Gania to Jhamundia Road Construction project could improve access to schools, healthcare facilities, markets and other essential services. Better connectivity would also make daily transportation easier for villagers, students, farmers and business owners.

Local residents have urged the administration to complete the Gania to Jhamundia Road Construction project without unnecessary delays. They have also demanded drinking water facilities and solar-powered lighting at bus waiting points. The administration’s response has raised hopes among residents for improved infrastructure in the region.

The upcoming Gania to Jhamundia Road Construction work will remain an important issue for local people until construction officially begins. Residents are waiting for the authorities to fulfil their assurances by December 19.

Drinking Water Facilities at Bus Stands

Apart from road construction, the protesters also raised concerns about the lack of drinking water facilities at several bus stands in the area. Passengers, including women, children and elderly people, often face difficulties in accessing safe drinking water while waiting for buses.

In response, the officials assured the protesters that drinking water facilities would be arranged at bus stands where hand pumps are not available. The administration indicated that suitable arrangements would be made to ensure passengers have access to drinking water.

Solar Lighting Facilities Also Promised

The third demand focused on installing solar-powered lighting systems at bus waiting areas. According to the protesters, proper lighting is necessary to ensure convenience and safety for passengers, particularly during evening and night hours.

The BDO assured the demonstrators that proposals for solar lighting facilities could be submitted through the Gram Sathi initiative. After receiving the necessary proposals, the administration would take steps towards implementing the project.

Protesters Set December 19 Deadline

Although officials provided information about the proposed development projects and assured action on the other demands, the protesters insisted that the new road construction work should begin by December 19.

They warned that if construction work did not start within the given deadline, local youths and residents would unite again and launch another protest in the coming days. They also urged the administration to take their demands seriously and ensure timely implementation of the promised development work.

Following the assurances given by the BDO and the Works Department official, the protesters decided to withdraw their demonstration.

Residents Hope for Better Road Connectivity

The protest has highlighted the need for improved road infrastructure and basic public facilities in the Gania and Jhamundia region. A properly constructed road would help residents access essential services more conveniently and improve transportation between nearby villages.

Local residents are now waiting for the administration to fulfil its assurances and begin the proposed construction work within the announced timeframe. The successful implementation of the project could bring significant relief to commuters and support the overall development of the region.
